Government Official States MoD Examining Potential Threat from Vehicles from China, as Staff Advised to Avoid Secret Talk in Vehicles.

An defense minister has stated that the Ministry of Defence is currently investigating the possible security risks associated with Chinese-made cars, while staff have been advised to avoid discussing secret matters in any vehicles.

Security Guidance for MoD Personnel

During a recently aired appearance on a radio station, a defence minister commented on claims that MoD officials have been told not to talk about secret material while riding in China-made vehicles.

He stated that the ministry is “looking into” cars from China within its vehicle pools, but noted that security is a concern in every contemporary cars.

We have a collection of thousands of vehicles in the MoD and those vehicles account for a tiny fraction.
However regardless of if you’re driving a vehicle from China or a car from another country, what we’ve asked our people is to avoid connecting MoD devices into their vehicle, not to have discussions at a secret classification in any kind of vehicle, because of the increasing risks of surveillance that are present in every single vehicle, to restrict those secret conversations in secure locations. This is a wise and sensible thing for anyone worried about safety.

After it was suggested that it would be prudent for the ministry to stop using every Chinese vehicles, the minister replied: That is exactly what we are looking into at the moment.”

Broader Security Background

This announcement follows claims from Scandinavian countries have alerted the United Kingdom to the existence of multi-purpose kill switches in Chinese-made electric buses, which could allow the Chinese government to disable public transport and cause chaos to transport systems.

Additionally, a Russia spy ship was reportedly directing laser beams at Royal Air Force pilots, described as a “highly dangerous” action by government representatives.

This broader security environment underscores the significance of strong measures and vigilance in all aspects of official operations, including vehicle usage to communication practices.
